Code of Conduct
The Smoke Rise Tennis and Pickleball Club (SRTPC) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all members and guests to provide a positive experience for all.
The intention of this document is to establish clear and acceptable behavior expectations for SRTPC members and guests. It is not intended to restrict the rights of anyone, but rather to ensure that all members and guests can expect to be treated with respect while enjoying the club facilities or taking part in club events.
All members and guests shall:
Conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner in all sporting activities, observing all applicable rules, and standards of etiquette and fair play including line calls. For standards of etiquette please refer to USTA’s “The Code”, which is applicable to both Pickleball and Tennis play.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religion, or sexual identity, socioeconomic status or any other status protected by federal or state laws.
Not harass, badger, bully, threaten or abuse (verbally, physically or otherwise) any club member, guest, employee, contractor, or Board member. Harassment is unwanted comments or conduct which has the purpose or effect of violating an individual’s dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment.
Refrain from loud, profane, indecent, or abusive language.
Refrain from smoking, vaping or using illegal drugs on SRTPC property.
Abide by all state and local laws and regulations.
Wear appropriate flat-soled shoes on the Har-Tru courts and non-marking shoes on hard courts.
Be respectful of all SRTPC property and sweep Har-Tru courts after use.
Book courts before coming to play and cancel reservations if they will not be used. Any member repeatedly making reservations and not using them (except in the event of rain) is subject to temporary revocation of their reservation privileges.
Ensure all guests are accompanied by a member when on Club premises. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests at all times.
Enforcement:
A conduct violation should be reported to the SRTPC Board as soon after the incident as possible. Any such complaints will be treated with confidence. The Board will investigate the alleged violation and at its sole discretion may impose any or all of the following sanctions on the offending member: written warning letter, suspension from club events (including Open Play, round robins, etc), probation, and membership suspension, non-renewal, or immediate termination. The decision of the SRTPC Board shall be taken by vote and shall be final and conclusive.
